Upscale (Magnify) an image

In addition to allowing you to create stunning images in your style, Seelab.ai also enables you to upscale them to add detail and increase their resolution.

Principles of Magnification

At the cutting edge of the latest AI image technologies, Seelab's "Magnify" tool actually combines two essential tools for producing visuals ready for production:

  • Upscaler: This function allows you to increase the resolution of your image up to 4096 x 4096 pixels.
  • Enhancer: Improves image details for greater realism.

This process requires powerful calculations, depending on the traffic on the platform:

  • Around 45 seconds for a 2x upscale
  • Around 1mn for a 4x upscale

This is an asynchronous process, so you can launch multiple magnifications in parallel.

Selecting an Image to Magnify

You have two options to select an image to edit:

  • From the creation flow: Hover over an image and click the "magnify" button.
  • From the "editor" tab: You can upload an image from your computer to enhance it.

Input Formats

The image you want to upscale must meet the following conditions:

  • Resolution: The image resolution must be between 256 x 256 px minimum and 2048 x 2048 px maximum. If not, an error message will appear.
  • File Size: The input image must not exceed 10 MB.
  • Format: jpg, jpeg, or png only.

Selecting Presets

Upscaling an image is a complex process where you need to find the balance between preserving the original image and adding creativity to enhance detail and realism.
To make your life easier, Seelab has defined three different presets:

  • Creativity: Adds artistic flair and expressive detail: ideal for bold, stylized outputs.
  • Balanced: A smart mix of realism and enhancement : perfect for most use cases.
  • Fidelity: Preserves original image features with maximum accuracy and minimal alteration.

Select the one that best applies to the type of image you want to enhance.

Magnification Factor

Choose the magnification factor:

  • x1: To keep the image at its original size and only add detail.
  • x2: To double the original resolution, up to 4096 x 4096 px max.
  • x4: To quadruple the original resolution, up to 4096 x 4096 px max.

We recommend to use X2 factor for optimal results

Importance of the Prompt

In the context of image upscaling, the prompt plays a crucial role, especially when enhancing skin textures or adding fine product details.

Seelab's upscaler doesn’t just upscale pixels; it reinterprets and reconstructs visual information using your prompt as a creative guide.
This means that by including clear, descriptive cues like “freckles,” “fine pores,” or “realistic glass reflection,” you can guide the model to inject highly accurate, high-fidelity details into the final image.

For best results, always describe the textures, materials, and finish you want to emphasize in the upscaled version.

Custom model compatibility

Our new upscaler is compatible with LoRAs/custom models for even better results and accuracy.

It's especially useful for images of products with text/labels. If you magnify an image directly from the platform, it will automatically select the right custom model if you used one, but you can also choose to select another model from your collections on the right panel.

Results and History

Once magnification has started, an animation will begin, and the image will appear in the history at the bottom right of the application with a loader and the elapsed time since the upscale started. You can launch multiple upscales in parallel.

After a few minutes, the enhanced image result will be displayed with a selector that allows you to compare the image before and after the magnification process.

You can also zoom in on the image to admire the quality of the added details.

Once your image has been upscaled, you can:

  • Add it to a collection for easier retrieval.
  • Download the image in PNG format.
  • Relaunch a magnification if you are not satisfied with the result.
